This project started through a formal tender process with AA projects back in May 2019. We engaged with a lighting manufacturer called Lumineux, who carried out a design spec for the site.
The school’s remit was to provide a full LED lighting replacement on a point for point basis, with the goal being to not only improve the efficiency of the lighting but also to reduce the school’s energy costs and carbon footprint.
The project was carried out during the school summer holidays 2019 and went very smoothly. The school ran a summer school which we were able to accommodate with minimal disruption whilst our works were carried out, especially in the sports hall where MEWP were required to carry out the high level replacements.
We delivered the project on time to the client, including an upgrade to the external lighting and also the installation of LED ‘smart’ panels to all main corridors and toilet areas. These lights offered the school the best option on money savings as they have inbuilt PIR sensors that dim down and then turn off the lights when no presence is detected. A load check of the site following the installation of the new LED lighting has proved a significant reduction in the site’s demand, which will reduce the energy bills.
This type of project would definitely benefit other educational facilities.
